E-Square – change in Management

The international retail association E-Square is reorganizing its leadership: Effective January 1, 2025, Paul Tyson will transition from the management board to the supervisory board. Jörn Gellermann, a long-standing member of the supervisory board, will join the management team alongside Eric Millar as Co-Managing Director. He will primarily focus on operational activities, member support, and expanding the network.

Founded in 2012, E-Square quickly established itself as one of the world’s leading networks for consumer electronics and household appliances. Today, the retail association comprises 18 European member companies across 13 countries, representing around 10,000 affiliated businesses. These include brick-and-mortar retailers, large-format stores, pure online retailers, and omnichannel providers. Through close collaboration, E-Square offers its international members deep insights into diverse markets and retail formats. Regular exchange and networking are at the heart of the association’s efforts to build sustainable, successful partnerships with international supplier partners.

Paul Tyson and Jörn Gellermann are among the founding members of E-Square. Over the past twelve years, Paul Tyson has been instrumental as Managing Director in expanding the network and fostering effective collaboration both among member companies and with industry partners. In his new role as a member of the supervisory board, he will continue to support the association in an advisory capacity.

"I would like to thank Paul for many years of excellent cooperation and am very pleased that he will continue to support us with his experience and expertise," says Eric Millar, Managing Director of E-Square. He will now be joined by Jörn Gellermann, who is transitioning from the supervisory board to an operational role.

Jörn Gellermann is also the Managing Director of ElectronicPartner Austria and has previously worked for many years at the buying group’s headquarters in Germany. As one of E-Square’s original founding members and a supervisory board member for the past five years, he has played a key role in shaping E-Square’s strategy. With his extensive knowledge of both members and suppliers, he is committed to ensuring a successful future for the retail association. He is also convinced that his dual role will create valuable synergies for ElectronicPartner: “The better connected I am internationally, the more this will benefit the buying group as a whole. The Austrian subsidiary can leverage the insights and experience I gain from E-Square to strengthen its international positioning.”

Originally from Bremen and now based in Austria, Gellermann sees his focus on member and network development: “Since E-Square’s founding, we have achieved a great deal and grown into a broad-based network. My goal is to make us even more visible and innovative to attract new partners,” he explains. “His years of experience in retail and industry will benefit the entire team, our members, and our international supplier partners. I look forward to working side by side with Jörn,” adds Eric Millar, who will continue to focus on negotiations with international manufacturers.

Another personnel change comes with the departure of Karl Trautmann from the E-Square supervisory board. The long-serving ElectronicPartner board member, also a founding member of E-Square, will retire on December 31 after 34 years in the consumer and home electronics industry. His successor on the E-Square supervisory board will be ElectronicPartner board member Matthias Assmann. The other supervisory board members are Laurent Seifert, Purchasing Director at GIGA France; Gabriel Silva, Commercial Director at Radio Popular in Portugal; and Patrick van Tent, Managing Director of ElectronicPartner Netherlands.

“Together with the entire E-Square team, we remain committed to building a strong European retail network that delivers individual benefits to all member companies,” promises Eric Millar.
