Edgar Haubrich Has Passed Away

With great sadness, the shareholders, supervisory board, executive board, and employees of ElectronicPartner have received the news of Edgar Haubrich’s passing. The co-founder of the Düsseldorf-based retail cooperative died on 21 October 2025 at the age of 88.

After completing his banking apprenticeship, Edgar Haubrich joined his father’s company, Karl Fr. Haubrich, in 1958. Just four years later, he was granted power of attorney and took on responsibility for sales and purchasing. In 1969, he was appointed Managing Partner. In the early 1970s, together with his brother Hartmut Haubrich, he founded what is now the ElectronicPartner group, evolving it from the family business Karl Fr. Haubrich. The group’s well-established core brands, EP: and MEDIMAX, were also created by the two entrepreneurs. On 1 March 2001, Edgar Haubrich joined the supervisory board of ElectronicPartner, where he served until mid-2012. He handed over his seat to his son, Rüdiger Haubrich, who continues to hold the position today.

Edgar Haubrich was a true “people person” in the best sense of the word. His greatest passion was for the members – the entrepreneurs within the cooperative – and the end customers. His motto, “No product without a story,” reflected his unique way of bringing innovative goods to life through engaging salesmanship. He also drove the national and international growth of ElectronicPartner with great enthusiasm. As early as the late 1950s, he began building and expanding the sales network in the Netherlands. During the years of German reunification, he showed strong commitment in the new federal states, convincing entrepreneurs of ElectronicPartner’s business models and introducing them to the many opportunities of self-employment. Privately, he was deeply engaged in the arts, culture, and social causes, especially in his hometown of Düsseldorf.

“Edgar Haubrich was a defining figure whose entrepreneurial foresight and consistently positive attitude earned him great respect at ElectronicPartner and throughout the industry. His trustworthiness, his warm and people-focused nature, and his heartfelt humour in dealing with members, suppliers and employees were his hallmarks. We are fortunate – and this applies to the entire electronics industry – to have had such a dedicated, passionate and empathetic entrepreneur among us,” said Professor Stefan Feuerstein, Chairman of the ElectronicPartner Supervisory Board, in tribute to Edgar Haubrich’s life and legacy.
