ElectronicPartner commits to “moor” sustainability

In cooperation with DER MITTELSTANDSVERBUND – ZGV e. V., ElectronicPartner took on a climate sponsorship in 2022 for approximately 100 hectares of drained moorland south of Berlin. Over the course of ten years, a donation of 600,000 euros will support the restoration and rewetting of the area. Recently, the buying group’s team visited the site to get a firsthand look at the project's progress, speak with those responsible on-site, and gather extensive visual material.

As a successful, medium-sized company, ElectronicPartner has always been aware of its social responsibility and has acted accordingly within its means. The commitment to greater sustainability—and thus to addressing one of the greatest challenges of our time—is therefore simply a logical continuation of its corporate philosophy. The company’s own "Go Green" initiative now encompasses numerous fields of action, with new small and large projects regularly being added. The current flagship project has been deliberately chosen by the buying group: local, highly effective, and tangible. "We want to invest in particularly effective and long-term climate protection right here on our doorstep," explains ElectronicPartner board member Karl Trautmann. He continues, "Intact moorlands are outstanding climate protectors—they store many times more carbon than forests can. In addition, they play a fundamental role in preserving biodiversity, providing countless animal species, insects, and amphibians with a protected habitat."

The area undergoing renaturation is a former military training ground near Jüterbog. "We were recently on-site ourselves and had the local team show us the measures currently being implemented. It was impressive to see the dedication of the Stiftung Naturlandschaft Brandenburg team working to protect the environment and wildlife," reports ElectronicPartner sustainability officer Christina Schmidt. With the support of a small film crew, exclusive footage was produced, which is now available to share with members, partner companies, and the public. A particularly in-depth insight is offered through a video featuring interviews, now available on the new "Sustainability" subpage of the ElectronicPartner website.

The moorland project is just one example of the buying group's commitment. "Our motto is 'Go Green' instead of 'Greenwashing'," explains Karl Trautmann, adding, "We carefully review all our measures for feasibility and effectiveness." The Go Green concept includes sustainable logistics, solar power projects at the Düsseldorf and Augsburg sites, an increasing number of resource-friendly products in the assortment, as well as other projects from the ElectronicPartner umbrella brand and its associated EP:members, MEDIMAX, and comTeam partners. "As an internationally oriented company rooted in a highly developed industrial nation, we are committed to responsible business practices and actions—regardless of fleeting trends and fashions. We continue our efforts in a focused way and are constantly opening up new fields of action. After all, commitment to nature and environmental protection has an impact both on a large scale and a small scale—and every single day," emphasizes Karl Trautmann.
