Strategic merger: kiwiko eG and comTeam join forces

On 1 July 2025, the IT security-focused cooperative kiwiko eG and the technology network comTeam have officially merged. Going forward, kiwiko – the Security Network will operate as an independent unit within comTeam Systemhaus GmbH, serving as a centre of excellence for IT security solutions.

Since its founding in 2016, kiwiko has pursued a distinctive approach beyond traditional purchasing cooperatives. From the outset, the focus has been on close collaboration between partners, continuous knowledge exchange, and personal development at executive level. Over the years, the network has evolved from project-based services to specialised managed services and comprehensive IT security solutions, now offered by 50 partner companies. A defining feature of kiwiko is its culture of trust and collaboration. Shared principles – such as fair treatment of customers and employees – form the foundation of the network.

The kiwiko specialists bring extensive expertise in cybersecurity, network protection, compliance, and managed security services, making them a perfect complement to the existing comTeam network. The merger creates significant added value in the growing IT security market: manufacturers and partners benefit from enhanced cooperation, more efficient collaboration, targeted project allocation, and intensive knowledge transfer. “We’re evolving dynamically and aim to cover the full spectrum of modern IT solutions,” says comTeam Managing Director Sven Glatter. “That includes strong security expertise – and with kiwiko, we’re bringing highly capable specialists on board who strategically expand our portfolio.”

comTeam partners will gain direct access to the expertise and specialised services of kiwiko members. In turn, kiwiko members will benefit from comTeam’s powerful infrastructure, extensive services, and numerous advantages – including over 50 offerings such as centralised purchasing, marketing services, training via the comTeach CAMPUS, and tools like the MSP Manager and the Traders Guide procurement platform.

Sandra Balz, previously a board member of kiwiko eG, will take on a key role as head of the new security network. She will oversee the seamless integration and further development within comTeam, actively shaping the strategic direction of the IT security division. “This move creates a win-win situation for everyone involved,” she emphasises. “comTeam partners benefit from our long-standing security expertise – and we gain access to a powerful infrastructure that enables us to scale new services more quickly and increase visibility for our members.”

Jan Bindig, also a kiwiko board member, sees the merger as the ideal moment to conclude his six-year tenure: “Our mission has always been to make Germany’s SME sector more secure. That requires a strong network – and comTeam brings the structural strength and reach to take our vision to the next level.” He is proud to have helped initiate this step and is confident that Sandra Balz will successfully carry the joint vision forward.

“kiwiko – the Security Network” stands for top-tier quality, deep expertise, and practical security solutions for businesses of all sizes. The synergies within the shared infrastructure allow for efficient resource and knowledge integration. With this strategic decision, comTeam is strengthening its long-term position as a leading corporate network for holistic IT solutions, offering a clear counterbalance to ongoing consolidation in the IT sector. “Bringing together technological expertise and security competence reinforces our shared commitment to not only supporting our partner companies operationally, but also making them sustainably competitive – technologically, economically, and organisationally,” concludes Sven Glatter.
